A few things you can try to prevent spam are as follows;

Do not put live emails on your web site. What we mean by this is do not make them click able. Just use a static email address like this example.
youremail@mydomain.com.

Do not sign up for anything you are not familiar with. If you do get spam do not click to be removed from the list as most of the time this is the way spammers check to see if it is a live email. If you do get spam please send it to a spam database for example www.spamcop.com. Make sure that you copy the header from the email when submitting. Also do a search on www.google.com for other spam databases.
