Last Digital, the fastest-growing leader in e-business solutions and the Web hosting industry, today opened new facilities to expand its abilities to provide geographic content distribution to its more than 24,000 customers throughout the globe.
Geographic distribution involves placing a clients' website on a network near its customers. With the globalization of even small businesses due to the Internet, it has become necessary to place such sites in several locations to minimize downtimes for all a client's customers. Last Digital's Geographic Content Distribution places clients' sites websites globally across its private network of more than 10 points of presence.
The addition of Last Digital's new facilities will make this possible for more of clients, according to Polat Alper, CEO and President.
"The addition facilities will provide truly uninterrupted service," Alper said. "It is another step in providing our clients with everything they need for their business to grow and form them to stay competitive in these challenging economic times."
In conjunction with the activating new facilities, Last Digital also upgraded its firewall protection in all its locations to a Cisco firewall.
"Upgrading our firewall increases our ability to protect our clients from intrusions from outsiders, attacks from hackers and other malicious behaviour," said Ernest Vershiyi, chief network architect.
"And adding facilities gives us another way to serve our clients from multiple locations around the country if we have trouble at our main Data Centre," Vershiyi said. "Put the two together and you have fantastic security and virtual elimination of downtimes for our clients."
The Internet has dramatically increased the globalization of the average business. A customer in Switzerland can purchase something from a company in United Kingdom, listen to a live radio show broadcast from France or download a new software application from Toronto -- 24 hours a day, even when the company's owners are at home asleep.
Last Digital's server collocation service enables businesses and individuals to house their mission-critical Internet servers in Last Digital's Telco grade facility for superior security, bandwidth management, and Internet connections. Last Digital's state-of-the-art data centres in Toronto and Istanbul provide unparalleled performance, availability and security to all of our collocation customers.
